YOUTUBES: Granada Sing Along

We have enjoyed some vintage Cohen performances over recent weeks. But it is nice to turn the clock back only a tiny bit and experience again what has been so familiar and so wonderful. shuzbut uploaded a great quality video from Granada 2009 of Leonard performing So Long, Marianne. The crowd gives a rousing performance of its own singing along on the chorus. And Leonard is all smiles. Thanks shuzbut. The embedding has been disabled on the video so you'll need to go to youtube directly:

YOUTUBES: Leonard Cohen and Laura Branigan

messalina79 has been busy again today uploading more Cohen delights. Today's audios are from a concert in Montreux in 1976. First, the warm and wonderful Tonight Will Be Fine and then Do I Have To Dance All Night, which closed the show. During Do I Have to Dance, Leonard introduces the band and singers. I was reminded that the amazing Laura Branigan sang with Leonard back then. Her song, Gloria, has always been one of my favorites and I include a live version below. She left us much too soon. Thanks to messalina79 for our Cohen fix.

YOUTUBES: Passing Through

Continuing our review of all the wonderful Cohen songs that Leonard didn't do on the 2008-09 tour, have a listen to Passing Through from Warsaw in 1985. This song did appear on some of the set lists that Cohen fans managed to slink away with after a concert, but it was listed as an "alternate." Seems worthy of some prime time play. This is a rousing version with lots of interplay from the band brought to you by our messalina79, a devoted Cohenite.
